Kind of surprised at all the twos and threes today; I thought this was a tricky, trappish word and that I got lucky with my third guess.
RAISE’s average gets… raised, from 3.82 to 3.83.
I feel lucky to get away with a par today, considering I pooched my second guess by using a letter in a known wrong position.

CHART → Slow, um, start. Nice to check two vowels here, but I thought of a really good followup, so
NAILS → One out of four. And nothing placed yet. Took me a while to think of the next followup
MONAD → 4 out of 5, and no one placed? Ugh. A pretty much has to be first, and I haven’t tried E yet… hmm, is this a crossword special?

I almost went with Anode at 2…wasn’t sure it really would be used, but just wanted to check the letters. I was feeling Annex more though. Then I only had two choices I could see…I know Anear is a bit archaic, but I really didn’t like the idea of an electrochemistry word either.
I see a potential difference of opinion on this, though. Others may be having a different reaction.
