At this point, I’m familiar enough with the game to have figured that SNAKY probably would be a valid solution, so I’m not particularly bothered by it. Of the possibilities I thought of, SNARF might’ve been a bit much, but other than that, they were all fair game imho, even SNARK.

WRATH → Not a bad start. Lone vowel? Still need to try others. Thought about a -A?E ending for a bit, but didn’t like the possible consonants, so I went with
SLAIN → Which, while not hitting the I, was good. Try an E. N in second or fourth? Second could be S?ANE, but not much fits it, so try SNA?E, which has a reptilian solution
SNAKE → and I almost thought I had a 3.

Yay, a 3, I guess, but this was not satisfying. After 2 I immediately saw snack but that has already been an answer. So has snafu, for that matter, as well as snarl but I’d already eliminated L.
I saw snags, but I don’t think present tense verbs ending in s are in the answer list. So I kept looking, figuring it would probably end in Y. Snaky? I guess, if you squint, maybe that’s a common word? The only thing I ever found. Didn’t feel good about it, but it worked so yay.
A 4 today.

I found SNAKY pretty fast after my 3rd try, but my brain didn’t want to accept this was a Wordle word. Finally dawned on me it had to be that word, because there was no other. Dumb word!
