I kept trying to find vowels!
Wordlebot used to work from the list of actual solutions (which, see next paragraph, doesn’t exist anymore) but now it works from a broader list that they compiled by gathering all of the five-letter words published in the New York Times over some period of years. They weeded out words that are known to not be possible answers, like plurals formed by adding “s”. This left somewhere around 3,400 words, I think. The list includes the frequency of the words, which helps Wordlebot when it makes its choices. For example, yesterday at one point both “chasm” and “miasm” were still possible answers but it gave “miasm” a 0.1% chance of being the answer.
Since the answers are now chosen by an editor instead of using the original answer list, there’s a chance that someday Wordle won’t be able to solve it because the answer isn’t in its list of words.

GNASH → Whole lotta nuttin’.
TILER → E the sole vowel? Seems unlikely. The more I stared at this the more I saw a repeat-letter word, which seemed a bit early to try but it did give me a vowel to try, so
CYCLE → which gave me very little, but having broken the repeat letter taboo, I found it easy to try again with
DWELL
I think I might have bitten on the QU- prefix first, so it’s a good thing I didn’t see it. Turns out there were a bunch of good third guesses, though.
