Of Scoredle’s 6 possibilities, four were legit words. But WORSE had already been used, MORSE is a proper name, and GORSE seemed unlikely, despite A.A. Milne’s including a gorse bush in Winnie-the-Pooh. So I ROUSEd myself and typed in the correct answer.

Tough one. Way too many -OUSE words to try for the birdie, but a good sleuth word proved elusive. SHARD had good consonants, and I chose A for the vowel in case I was missing something (I wasn’t). Hitting that R was the only scenario to not guarantee a par, and then I lost the coin flip.
I’ve been having good luck lately, so I guess I was due for some bad.

If I didn’t hit on the E unplaced at the start, I probably would have tried ROAST and ended with a 3. Then, if I had anagrammed my third-guess letters and gone with HORSE, I would have finished with four. Two opportunities missed.
