True, but I don’t try for the answer with my second guess. I spend the first two words checking letters. I’ll happily use a previous answer as my second guess, for example. It’s the third guess where I start trying for the win.
In fact, because I try to always follow up plant with something that includes SER – and O if the A didn’t hit – many of my second guesses end in S. It’s only if I’m forced to use a lesser letter in my second word that I try for the win at 2, and even then not always.

GLAZE → Hey, good start. Great way to get a new streak going, hey!
DEALT → Placed the E, very good. Really need to get some more letters, though…
LEAFY → Another trap. Sigh. Alright, get that R & N out of the way
LEARN → Clean miss. Rewatched NbyNW last night, so I’ll try
LEACH → Oh, the S.
LEASH
Not what I was hoping for when I stated with bravado yesterday that I would be starting a new streak today, but I’ll take it.

About half a dozen legit words after two. I only saw three of them, so this could have gone worse.

For half a second I thought I had it in one, so the 3 is a little disappointing. Much better than yesterday’s 6, though.

SLANT
TREAD
ACTOR
Lucky me: I made a bad decision at 2, but still managed to luck into a 3.
My usual first two words, SLANT and CHORE, work very well together as a package deal. But in the middle of the night, my mind kept yapping to try TREAD at 2 instead. So I did, which turned out to be a bad idea: CHORE would have narrowed it down to ACTOR, while TREAD left me with several possibilities. Fortunately for me, most of them had either been used (AORTA, PARTY, RATIO), or were a bit obscure (ATRIA, RAITA). I still had to reject GATOR and RATTY - slangy but still possible. But a lucky 3 when it didn’t have to be.
Congrats to all you folks who got 2s today!
