TAKEN → Good start. Having to place the E somewhere else takes away some of my good second guesses, though, so I tried
NURSE → which placed the E and gave me an R to boot, so I moved the R & N around and tried
PRONE → and got stuck here for a while. R?N?E was what I puzzled over for a long time, since I couldn’t see anything with ?N?RE, and RN???E and ??NRE certainly weren’t it. Until I saw
GENRE
Oddly enough, I could have switched the vowels used on my second and third guesses and both would have been valid words, and put me into the exact same ending position.

??NRE looked so obviously wrong and I was apparently so tired that I ended up using a British spelling for my third guess. Wordlebot’s response: “There was only one possible solution left — and this wasn’t it.” (I’ll blame it on the root canal about 36 hours prior, although I’ve had no pain since the procedure.)

GENRE
There were some U words available at three, but I guessed right on a second E, and managed to narrow it down to just one word.
Not a bad par; I’ll take it!
As for spoilering our grids, I’d say it’s not necessary; most of us don’t come to the thread until after we solve anyway.
Forgot to post to this thread yesterday, but it was a 3. I kept trying to force WAKEN into the third try, but I’d already discovered the ‘T’ in IRATE, so Wordle kept shaking letters at me and wouldn’t accept it. Derp. As soon as my compromised brain realized the mistake, TAKEN jumped right out. It should be mentioned I am recovering from my COVID jab and those are always hard on me.
So today!
Another 3.

GENRE → Clean miss. At least it KOed E and two comcons. Time for a good second guess, but I can’t get R, S & L along with two vowels, so I’ll step down to H for
HOIST → For a second I thought I was going to whiff again. Two vowels left, and I can combine them with the L to guess
FAULT → I think there’s gotta be two As in there. Played around with what consonants are left and ended up with
ADAPT
After my second guess, per Scoredle there were maybe five non-bogus words left (plus ZAKAT and FLUYT, two loanwords that would be killers if they were Wordle solutions).
