I had a real slog with this one. And WordleBot gave me just 7/99 for my 4th guess! I find that strange considering that it eliminated every answer except for the solution, but here’s what the bot said:

CHEER → I was kinda hoping for one and only one E, but at least this sets me up for one of my favorite second guesses
ROAST → and that was a really good guess! Two brand new letters placed, and the R placed by elimination. L & N can’t go anywhere, so no sense chasing comcons. For I second I thought BRASH, but I’ve already tried the H. So I reset for a second and saw

GRASS and BRASS were also around, and Scoredle rated them as better guesses than mine, though part of that is because they might have also helped on a bogus word. With hindsight, my guess was as good as theirs.

Was in good shape after 2, but managed to stumble my way to a 5.
Too often lately I’ve been playing in the middle of the night when early a.m. insomnia strikes. This was one of those times.
No, it makes perfect sense. The question the bot’s considering isn’t “how well did you play at move n, given what today’s solution was?” but “how well did you play at move n, given the entire set of possible solutions after move n-1?”
A guess that worked out well, given today’s solution, but would have possibly caused the player to take a loss if the solution had been a different possible solution, wouldn’t be that good a guess really. And that’s what I interpret the bot as saying.
