That’s what I thought that the bot was saying, but still, I didn’t really feel that it was that important to harp on what could have happened vs. what actually did happen.

There were remarkably few possible answers left after two.
GRASP → Not bad, I like that letter pair at the start, so
SPELT → Hit on the E… and I’d like to try an N. But that goes to one word that probably won’t ever be an answer… oh, what the heck
PENIS → So, PES??, PESTO is out there is one with a Y…
PESKY
Yeah, I went there. Hey, Scoredle points out that PUBES was out there on that guess as well…

An extremely fortunate opener today; along with 70 ‘S’ plurals and an handful of nonsense words, all that was left were PESKY and PESTY. I didn’t know that was the case, but after a couple minutes I just went for it. Woot!

Kind of messed this one up and forgot about the E on my 3rd guess. I also had seen Messy and Pesky, and I wasn’t sure what else but decided to guess one of those three words, and I go and choose the invalid one. At least I got the K and Y and could solve from there.

The 1st word I could think of that started with a P, contained an E and wasn’t on the used list (like PERCH)
