Today’s starter provided very good information; still, I was lucky to get the deuce. Scoredle spat out five legit words: SINGE, SIEGE, RINSE, SIEVE, and SINCE. Either of the G words would have guaranteed me a three, so if I’d thought about it harder I probably would have gone with one of those. Fortunately, I just plunked down the first word I saw.
Dare I hope I’m back in my 3-groove? (Nah. But it was nice to get a 3 today!)

LOCAL → Slow start. Was hoping for a single L. With that C, I’ll try an E and three comcons
CREST → And I sat here looking at this for a while. SCHEN? NESCH? Something about using an H really got to me here. Had to leave before finishing to do a hike; when I came back I immediately saw

Turns out getting that early letter was important. Though if I had seen SPICE, I probably would have gone with that what with Dune 2 in the theaters.

SINCE → Not much of a start. Three comcons and an A to go with the E, perhaps?
RENAL → But not trying the N again. Sigh. Even REGAL would have done better. OK, something with a T this time
TWERK → Rather slangy, but it did get me that T. I suspect there’s another vowel in there, try an O this time for
OTHER → At least I now know where the E goes. ETR?? or ERT??, neither goes anywhere, ERUT? same. ERU?T, though could be

I’m impressed with all the 2s and 3s today, I thought this one was fairly challenging, and even after my 3rd guess, I had to wrack my brain for the solution.
After 2, I thought that if they were going to do a word connected with this being Wordle #1000, I thought they’d mention how RIVETed we were to this game.
ETA: I play Wordle on my phone, and it’s still showing my stats.

Normally I check A with my first word, then O and E with my second. Not being able to check E with my second word (or any two vowels) pretty much killed my chances at a 3. Especially when coupled with the fact that words that start with a vowel are my kryptonite.
Same on both counts.
Back to a five again. Doesn’t help when you make an obvious error.
