Especially when coupled with the fact that words that start with a vowel are my kryptonite.

Naturally, I had to go look - in games 0-1000,

solutions have started with:

A - 73 times
E - 33 times
I - 16 times
O- 13 times
U - 22 times (7 of these with an ‘un’ prefix, e.g. unmet)

Doing a quick scan of the last ~150 games, I seem to do slightly worse when solutions start with vowels, but the sample size is small.

ERUPT → For a second as the letters were flipping, I thought strikeout. As it is… A & I, and a couple comcons to go with the T. TRAIL would be nice, but the R is gone, and the thought led to
STAIN → so I figured an O or second I would be good to try. RICIN was out, so a second I went nowhere, I thought about ?OTIN but saw nothing until I tried TO?IN and saw
TOXIN

Not a bad start to a second Worldle-millenium. Scoredle really went hard to place the T for its second guess with TATTY, I think I was a bit lucky by getting the -IN terminal pair which really clinched the puzzle.
