Look at it this way: this was Wordle #673. There are slightly over 2300 words in the list of solutions, I’m told. So we’re not even 30% of the way through the list. So even the most blatantly, obviously common five-letter word has a better than 70% chance of not having yet been a solution.

I had the first, second and last letters and was slightly concerned about the final word since I play it with my aunt and mother. I spoiled it in case it counts as a slight clue to the final word.

I thought my second guess was a weak one, but it turned out to be perfect. The remaining choices were “ditto, nitto, dicto, tinto, litho, timbo” of which only one is a reasonable Wordle word.
Of course, I didn’t know that until I finally spotted the one word that worked.
When I see Scordle always doing better than me, it’s reassuring to see the occasional one like today where Scoredle still took 4 guesses even though it knows all of the dumb Wordle words like “timbo”

Wordle 674 6/6* 4/24/2023
UNZIP → About the best I could hope for from this start. Common consonants and an E, anyone?
SMITE → Good hit on the T. Feel like I need another vowel. Do I have a double T? No, check vowel first…
RIATA → Placed the T, but the rest went nowhere. Really need to get some more consonants down…
FILTH → Nada. OK, I’m officially worried. But if I double the T, I can try…
DITTY → So close. I thought I had it before that last tile turned over gray.
DITTO
Haven’t had a six in a while, I guess I was due. I came close to trying DITTY with the third guess - I should go with my instincts more. (And next time I go with my instincts and get it wrong, I’ll think I should analyze more…)
