GRIST
WRIST
I’d have gone with WRIST instead of GRIST if I’d thought of it FRIST.

But there were a lot of possibilities out there after my starting word that I just plain didn’t see. So I was luckier than I realized at first just to be in the right ballpark.

JOUST - Okay, so it’s an ‘i’ or a ‘y’
TRYST - Could be grist for the mill, but I think it’s. . .

DRIFT
WRIST
Bad five. My second word did me no favors, and PRINT, despite placing the three letters, didn’t eliminate much.
Then I saw WRIIST, but then saw DRIFT and GRIFT, so I figured I should play the F. I did not see GRIST, so a six was still on the table anyway. Not my best game.

CLIMB → OK, let’s try three comcons and an E to go with that… hmm, try…
TRIES → Good guess! SRI?? goes nowhere, so it must be ?RIST, could be GRIST or more likely
WRIST
Scoredle takes five guesses from my start word, so I’d call that a really lucky second guess - except that, going for the comcons and trying an E, it only makes sense. Perplexed, but happy with a birdie.
A 4 today. Was a coin flip which word to try first, and I lost.

After two I was pretty sure it was xINCH. I figured it was a WORDLE kind of thing to start with the same letter. That left CINCH, PINCH and FINCH. Went with a sleuth word to guarantee the five.

After 2, I had it down to FINCH, MUNCH, PINCH, PUNCH, and WINCH because BUNCH and HUNCH had already been used. (And that was the complete list of possibilities, as it turned out.) Any guess at a solution on 3 (1/5 chance of being right) would have left me with at least a 1/5 chance of going to 5, and I dislike getting 5s more than I like getting 3s, so I came up with a sleuth word to guarantee the 4.
