LUCID → At least I can now make a good second guess… though it can’t be LEAST. Rearrange those letters to
STEAL → And now I see it could have been SLATE. Ah, well. Better try both O and Y, since there are no vowels out. I can see a word that does that, and would place the L to boot, so I won’t worry about the early double-up
FOLLY → Uh oh, looks like a trap. Do I have a chance? GHJ, M & P would be proper nouns (though with slang potential on the first), L & D are ruled out by the first guess fortunately, so I think I’m safe
HOLLY → Not Christmasy
GOLLY → Not Gomer Pyle-y

Turned out it was a different kind of Christmasy.That was too close for comfort. I probably should have rethought my fifth guess on slang grounds, but I was sufficiently glad to think that I wouldn’t be trapped that I wasn’t too discriminating as to order. Scoredle gets it done in four, by the way, but I felt very relieved to keep my streak alive.
