Do you ALWAYS begin with the previous day’s solution? Just curious to understand your thought processes.
Yes, I do. It’s my way of keeping the game fresh for myself.
It also makes it really hard to get a one, but that’s a price I’m willing to pay.
I thought for a while about going with a consistent start word, but decided if I did I would eventually sit down with Python and a word list and hammer out a Wordle solver some afternoon - which would be fun also of course, but just fun once. So this way, I exercise my brain a little differently each day (even for the frustrating start words like DADDY) at a cost of a few more misses.
I never say this, but LOL! ![]()

I bungled my way to a birdie. Stupidly forgot the L in my second word, but lucking into that middle G left nothing but the solution!

Immediately saw the _olly trap, but I don’t really like it. So I kept looking, managing to find moldy and folio. (That last one a throwback to my early ad&d days in the '80s when I owned the Fiend Folio.) Midge would positively identify the answer once you eliminate the _olly words that have already been answers.

BUGLE → Hey, I’m 1/5th of the way there!
TAILS → Still 1/5th, not feeling quite as optimistic. No vowels yet, and O & Y are still out there, so I’d better check 'em both this time out. Terminal Y is a definite; I thought of ODDLY for a bit but decided if I’m doubling up I’d rather try it on a more common letter, hence
WOOLY → which wasn’t bad, but gets one of the mothers of all traps. Oddly (heh) enought, I might have a second Y, so
COYLY → wasn’t it. So there’s a killer trap on the way, and I only have two guesses left. Even if I throw out P for a name, M & L for possible slang, there’s still four guesses left, so here goes nothing…
HOLLY → Nope.
DOLLY
Phew is right. I always like how, once you get into that trap, Scoredle says “The best guess to make next would be FOLLY” - it seems a very apt thing to say.
