SCONE → And so ends our streak of Cs. Let us have a brief moment of silence, or at least muffled conversation. OK, two of L, R and T, and A & I gives us
STAIR → Should the I be tried in second or third? I’ll try the latter, along with a terminal Y and that L
SLIMY → Uh, oh. I’m seeing a word that probably isn’t it but would be a killer if it is. I can’t unsee it, so I’ll try it
SWISS → Two guesses left. What can go after the I? I see another double letter, but not much else, so
SPIFF → Aw, should have thought of K
SKIFF
Scoredle, very efficient, finishes in 4. My fourth guess, as unproductive as it seemed, is better than I thought at the time. At least it wasn’t a streak-buster!

Saw what turned out to be the solution right away, but took some time to make sure I wasn’t missing any possibilities. It could have also been HYMEN, but I was betting against it. Also one spelling of the slang term for one’s rear end - HINEY. (Does it even have a fixed spelling? I don’t think so, which made me discount that too.)
