It’s amazing how many words were eliminated by all those blanks at 1 and 2. And a considerable number of remaining possibilities had already been used. But I was still very lucky here - I completely overlooked a number of still-unused possible solutions, like DEIGN, ENEMY, UNWED (while FEIGN, ENNUI, and UNFED had been used, making for some matched pairs). So very happy to luck into a 3.

I’m going to have to give myself a huge luck score on this one, because for the second guess, I stopped counting at 20 non-bogus possibles. Fixating on that one ending pretty much made it for me, though it could have ended rather tragically. Scoredle is smarter with its second guess, but rather less lucky, and ends up with a par.

Not bullshit so much as just dated, IMHO: people used this word all the time when I was growing up, and well into my adulthood. But now it’s a relic of the era when all or most of what people watched on TV was the programming of the three networks, and they watched a given program at the one time each week that it was on. But the nets didn’t create 52 episodes of a prime-time program each year, so there were a lot of reruns, especially during the summer. And ‘rerun’ was the word people used, a lot. Now it’s just a relic and reminder of that bygone time, but then it was very much part of the language.
It’s in my 1982 American Heritage dictionary, without any suggestion that it’s slang. It was so ingrained then that it was just another frequently used word.
