If Wordle were 6 letters I would feel similarly about sitcom being an answer regardless if it’s in the dictionary or not. It feels too slang-y to me.

At least the Bot liked my process.
WIDEN → Hmmm. Four WoFcons still out there, and STERN would cover three of them - but it was an answer not long ago. Plus, I couldn’t try the A. So I’ll try something else that only gets one WoFcon but does cover the A, hence
CLEAN → And, I struck out. With the E moved over one place, and trying the U, I can see one word that requires a repeat letter - oh, what the heck…
RERUN
BEGUN, HERON and XENON were all stil out there, and the first two might well have been better guesses than what I made. So, very lucky to get an unexpected birdie today. Scoredle takes five, but I really think it plays much better than I did.

READY (There is such a plethora of RExxx words, that I’d like to eliminate some letters)
STUCK (Took out four letters, and found a U in the bargain! Lessee, REVUE, RERUN, REDUX, and REDUB. Let’s spend a guess on a sleuth word)
INDEX. (And the N nails it! Although BRAND would have been more definitive)

FREON is a proper noun.
Speaking of slang, GONER was Wordle #86, but I doubt the NYT will let BONER be used.

Thought I had it at three. I knew the -ER ending was still in play, but couldn’t see a damn word for the life of me. Then HERON jumped out and I didn’t think it could be anything else. Sometimes you just pick the wrong one.

Missed it by that much.
RERUN → That’s a good start, though somewhat… unplaced. What’s happening is I need to start guessing for real rather than just trying to accumulate letters. I like the -ER ending, so I’ll combine that with another vowel and a WoFcon to get
SANER → So now they’re all placed, and maybe a little traplike. Should I try I or O here? Didn’t work out all the possibles, so just went with O
LONER → That’s… an odd place for the O. I had to work through just about every other letter before it came to me

I picked the wrong letter for the trap on 3, though doing so would have pretty much forced me to a 5. So call this one lucky - I had a 25% chance of a loss after my third guess, though I think tbat I could have remembered at least one of the words in the trap as having been the answer before. Scoredle makes a great (but unlucky) choice on the second guess, and then works out the rest of the par pretty much the same way I did.
