I saw taint first but since this was only my second guess I wanted to check more letters. Been a while since I had a 2.

What a bummer. I saw both possible answers, but thought of βtaintβ first and went with that.
CAMEL β No consonants, but a placed A is kinda cool. Can I build on this with an O and three WoFcons?
TAROS β Just a bit. If I try an I and an N, what word can I try?
PAINT β Oh, so close. Itβs not TAINT, so Iβll try
FAINT
Scoredle finds the I with its second guess, and places it with the third, but takes the long way around to the answer and ends up with a five. My determination to check the WoFcons helped out in this case.

READY (I can only hunt for two vowels)
OASIS (besides finding a vowel and placing the A, I still feel like eliminating the U)
HAIKU (Okay, the U is eliminated, and things are looking scary)
FAINT (THATβS a welcome ass-pull)

FAINT β OK, not bad. Should I try O & E and a WoFcon (TONER/TENOR) or E and three WoFcons? I think the latter, thus
STERN
I rate that as mighty lucky, though it did take more thought (i.e. any amount) than my previous eagle. Scoredle makes a better guess by doubling up and ends with a birdie.

READY (Iβm suspicious. Let me start with a sleuth word that eliminates a vowel)
PLUMB (Okay, let me do it again)
SIGHT (I can have STREP, STREW, STERN, or STEER And I have just the sleuth word to figure it out!)
SPAWN (I donβt much mind that itβs a bogey)
STERN
On reflection, since STREP had already been eliminated, NEWER would have been a more elegant sleuth word. And the stupid robot wouldnβt have been able to complain about what would have happened if the solution had been STORE. Which I knew had already been used. And so did the stupid robot. I will never be persuaded otherwise.
