UVULA → Not a great start, with only L gone out of WoFcons and a lot of vowels left to go. Thanks, repeated U! Time for a good first word second
STARE → Whew, not much better. N is still out there. I saw one word with it almost immediately, and since it tried another vowel, I was all in
TANGY → Which was a real stroke of luck, but now - TAFFY, TACKY, probalbly not TAMMY, oh - TABBY, not seeing much else, so its a trap but probably not fatal
TAFFY → Nope
TACKY
TATTY might have killed me, if it is indeed a valid word. Scoredle makes a good choice in the trap and finishes with a par.

YEAST (Nice beginning. I like ending with Y. xxxAY? Nah, TODAY is used. TAxxY? Time to roll the dice.)

Pulled that one out of my butt!
We can’t know now, of course, but I checked Wardle’s original list to see if it was there. For the curious: Tatty is indeed in the original answer list, surprisingly.
I knew it had to be on the list of 14,855 words, because Scoredle said it should have been my guess at 2, but I was definitely going, “is that a real word??” It’s in my dictionary though - means shabby or frayed.

I went through every possible combination after three and this was the only one I found. I now realize that I missed VIGOR but it wouldn’t have changed anything.

I really expected there to be several possibilities after 2, but fortunately the solution was the only remaining possibility.
ETA: We’re closing in on 10,000, so we’ll probably start Part 3 by Tuesday.
