Fortunately, I thought of DINER right away, and went with it. Didn’t even see most of the others until checking Scoredle. A very lucky 3, but I’ll take it.

Talked myself out of a 2 at the last moment: was all set to go with STRAW, but as I was typing it in, I opted for STRAY instead.
After my initial word, I had it narrowed down to SATYR, SITAR, STRAW, STRAY, STEAK, and STEAM. Worst case is, it would have been one of the latter two, and I’d have had to choose between them for my third guess. So I’m still pretty happy with a 3.
