Wordle 1,444 4/6
ROUGH → Would COUGH have been a whiff? In the event, A & E and two WoFcons to go with that R and we try
STARE → Add an I and the last two WoFcons and we get
LINER → So R must be 2nd or 3rd, and we might have another E in there… I’m going to try the N at the end, R second and double E, throw a P at the start and try
PREEN
Scoredle has almost the exact same pattern of guesses - its second is an anagram of mine, and the third substitutes one letter different. Neither of us match its own start though, which birdies.

I wasn’t guessing the answer; I was trying to place the A and the N, and got lucky.

Yeah, I’m pretty tolerant of the foibles of Wardle’s word list, but damn, this one’s pushing it. Especially when my only other choice after 3 was ‘adman’ which if ‘admin’ was a word, I could see ‘adman’ as a run-on word for someone in the advertising business. So I had to ask myself, which bogus word was less bogus? At least I guessed right.
ETA: Scoredle says ADMAN is on the list of 14,855 legit guesses.

To be fair, is
PURTY
A real word?
More than ADMIN yes, but I confess I usually start my games in the most random way simply entering letters as the mood strikes me without trying for the best option, in this case I ended up with PURTY and was sure it was going to reject it, but it worked.

Dammit! I was going to put ADMIN as my second word, but thought Wordle wouldn’t use it because it’s slang-y. Thats what I get for thinking!
