BLANK → Whiff. I seem to be getting a lot of first-guess whiffs lately
STORE → Still no vowels. I’d like to try two (or three) vowels, but I end up doubling up on the consonants if I do. So let’s double down and go consonant-crazy…
WHIPT → Nada. And with I not in the middle it makes it more likely we have another vowel - probably a Y on the end. Since I need to place the T as well, I’ll try
DITTY → So, TI??Y. And not many consonants left, C F G J M Q V X Z. TIMMY is a proper name. Only word I can see left is

My third guess was a blessing in disguise. Scoredle and I had anagrammatically identical follow-ups, but it hits the 3-4 trap on its third guess and dies without filling it, despite a 50/50 shot on its final guess (and its third guess is a word that I figure will never be seen as an answer in the NYT).

Like kaylasdad99, I was thrilled to get this par.
Knowing the T had to go first, that double Z jumped right out at me. Still, I went looking for other options; I briefly wondered if TINGY and TINKY were words, but somehow I didn’t think of doubling the N, which turned out to be fortunate.
