Brain fart on guess #3.
I’ve been using Scoredle as a check on my Wordling for a while now, and I’ve never really noticed a definite pattern. If I recall correctly, Scoredle itself has one set of possible solution words and a larger set of valid guesses that will never be used as solutions. Scoredle starts from the superset of these two, and whittles things down. I think it checks which word of the remaining possible solutions would minimize the size of the largest set of possibles remaining after that word had been chosen. (I could probably phrase that better, but I’d do better by coding it).
Prick is one of those part-time dirty words, though (as is ‘trick’ in another context). As George Carlin says, it’s OK to prick your finger…

HAUNT → Not much to start with. I can try O & E with two more WoFcons by trying
SHORE → And that looks a bit trappish, but it’s not a bad one. Could be CHOKE, or

Coin flip goes my way. Scoredle had a different coin flip for birdie, its second guess excluded my alternative but added a word that will probably never appear in an NYT puzzle that was excluded by my second guess.

Didn’t find much with the first two guesses, but they eliminated enough to stay out of the trap when the vowels got placed. A satisfying par.

WHOLE → Whiff. Don’t know why I didn’t go TRAIN here, but first I saw
STAIR → Need to place the A, try the U, and I have one WoFcon left. I know just the word
SAUNA → Oh, boy. With Y still around, it’s probably… SAGGY, SAPPY, SAVVY - uh oh, or SASSY. So I need to find a word starting with SA that can cover two of them. Some experimenting led me to
SAMPS → Which left two possibles (I hope) for two guesses.
SAGGY → Not that one.
SAVVY
That was a very near thing - I think it would have been the odd guess out. Scoredle says there was another possible, but it looks extremely bogus to me. From my start, Scoredle sinks a very lucky bogey - it had five possibles on that last guess, and at least four of them were not bogus.
