A stroke of luck for birdie. Scoredle falls into the first-letter trap with its second guess, and ends up with a bogey - with five more guesses outstanding at that point. That may be a worse trap than the ?OUND series.

I’ve been using TREAD as my second word for a while now when I get these two yellows on my opening word of SLANT. It’s been working out pretty well.
