I was safer than I thought after the trap began, but still went the distance. Scoredle gets a tap-in par after an inspired second guess that hits the fourth letter, then gets four greens on the birdie putt. (That last is a mixed metaphor pun, no?)

I probably would have been wise to step away from my self-imposed hard mode on this one. Walked right into a trap and was lucky to get out of it with a par.

After 3, I was down to 2 possibilities. Sometimes you choose the wrong one. C’est la vie.
I really need a better second word in this particular situation, when I get yellow LA from my starting word. I tried LARCH for awhile, but it didn’t really seem to do any better than my all-purpose second word, CHORE. It comes up often enough that it’s worth some thought.

DAISY was another possibility for my second guess, which would have pushed me to a par. Scoredle goes with DAUNT which means par as well. Sometimes you get lucky…

DALLY
The random generator gave me a tough start word today. Thought I was going to whiff, but the terminal Y was a stroke of luck.
I almost went with DAISY at two, but I’m not mad. That wouldn’t have guaranteed a birdie anyway; DADDY and DAFFY would have been on the table, and there’s no telling which I might have chosen. Maybe even both on the way to a bogie. So it’s all good.
