DALLY → Whiff. Time for a good first word second, with O & E, so
STONE → One T, unplaced, after nine letters. I think I need a vowel, and I can see a we word (with U & I), uses a T, and tries the last WoFcon, so
FRUIT → Turns out the F was the good get here! FRIT? could only be
FRITZ
FRITH was another possibility, according to Scoredle, so my supposition was incorrect. Although it seems a rather bogus word to me… Scoredle also tries that word on its way to a bogey, so maybe the makers were fans of Watership Down…

An enjoyable challenge today. Even after I had -RIT-, I spent several minutes with H and Y in the last spot before realizing a Z could go there.

I was quite pleased with my results. 19 out of 19 with eight 3’s and eleven 4’s.
But I took a Six on September 26, 2025. No. 1560. The only consolation was that after 5 guesses I thought of two words it might be, and guessed right.

I suspect I have a strategy flaw that caught up with me.

This was a complete disaster. On three, I was grasping at straws to place the E and gave up to repeat a letter ( now I realize I should have tried EPOXY). Then I was sure that the E was first and finally tried something I didn’t think was a word. When I finally placed the E I saw the answer.
