After clue #1 14 fitting words occurred to me (of which 10 had already been used).
I had NO intention of trying to score Two but wanted to know what word patterns
were likely. Repay put the E and A into their likeliest positions and R,P,Y were among
the likeliest new letters. After my bad experience on #1582, I did NOT want to introduce all
new letters on Clue 2. I wanted to pin down the location of a vowel.
After Clue 2’s result, only two words occurred to me.
The other was Equal but it was on the already-used list.

HAVEN → Huh. Is that all the vowels I’ll need? Smash 'em together and add three WoFcons, and try
TEARS → Not much help there. L is still out there, though, and I can try it with a couple more consonants as in
GLEAM → So the L goes at the end, and… what else? Not many consonant pairs left that can fit in at the start. I thought QUEAL (?) for a second, then started in on toying with I and saw it

For a tap-in par, that took a long time to figure out. Scoredle also makes a good third guess for the ultimate tap-in, without even a bogus word or two for distraction purposes.

I always start with SLANT, and I’d been thinking for awhile of trying CANON at 2 when getting yellow AN to start with, so I did that yesterday. My third word, whatever it was, got me to the mini-trap of H/M/RAVEN so I did HOMER as a sleuth word at 4 to settle for 5 and avoid the chance of a 6.
