ABHOR
Since several other NYT puzzles today had a Halloween theme, I thought maybe the Wordle word might be Halloweeny too, but no. Getting HO and RA as yellows meant the O and A were not likely to be together as neither could be the middle letter.

Not sure if I misplayed or was just unlucky.
In hindsight Parka looks like a waste, but it worked well with the short
list I had then (missing Rumor, Humor, Abhor).

LATHE → Lucky H. Now that’s something I can work with. Not TH, though.. perhaps CH or SH? If I want to try a vowel, O would be the next one up… which leads us to
CHAOS → O, placed! Nice. The A pretty much has to be first, and the H third, which leads us to
ABHOR
Scoredle, for the record, makes the exact same guesses I did. Starting off with a non-common consonant is a real boost.

SLATE
MOTEL
(Everyone was too kind to mention my brain-fart on #1595; Thanks.)
After the triple-yellow I found 14 fitting words of which 3 (Hotel, Towel, Filet)
had already been used and a whopping 8 (Tiled, Tiler, Relit, Telex, Liter etc.)
were not even Wardle words.
Betel and Inlet afaik were the only possibilities other than Motel.
Inlet was out since it might lead to a Four score.
I bypassed Betel which seems like a slightly obscure word Editor might reject.

ABHOR → An appropriate word for a near-vacuum. I tried a couple possibilities with E, but then saw
LIONS → and went with it. Then I endeavored to move the O over one more space again, and saw a possible with the E (and a Y) and went for that, so
MOLEY → Which really felt like I struck gold, and since I had been reading WWII history immediately before this I went with
MODEL → which made me feel really dumb once I realized I had one WoFcon to go
MOTEL
My third guess was a real stroke of luck - got me down from over twenty legit possibles to just two - but given my fourth guess, I’d have to conclude it used all my luck up. Scoredle makes a very systematic par.
