I had the same yellow-L start 3 weeks ago and chose Doily then. It
may seem wrong to ask THREE vowels and repeat a letter, bypassing R and N
for the less common D. But I got a Birdie with it three weeks ago.
Note that all five letters are in their likeliest positions.
After #2 only four fitting words occurred to me. Unlid is in dictionaries,
but not in Wardle’s list; and Livid and Lucid were already used.
Lurid brings back memories of playing non-positional Jotto more than
a half-century ago. Lurid (along with Agony and Chest) was one of three
words I started with routinely to access 15 different letters.

TINGE → Slow start, but fairly varied, so I’m happy. If I combine that I with S, L, R and A, I can then try
RAILS → Not bad, but need to place things. I’d like to try another vowel, likely an O, which led me down the path of trying various words until I got one that hit
LORIC → (of or pertaining to lorises, perhaps?) Anyway, once I saw that, and looked at my remaining vowels, the answer jumped out at me

If O was not the subject of my obsession, I probably would have hunted around long enough for either the answer or the third option similar to my actual third guess. Scoredle bounces back from its unlucky loss yesterday with a nice birdie on about a 1-in-15 shot.
