YEAST (Y and E, unplaced. Probably xxxEY, with another vowel.)
COVEY (CxxEx? Hmm. I’m thinking CxYEx. )
CRYER (Aww, crap. It’s CYxER.)
CYBER (Take the par.)
Right?

Yikes.
In retrospect, since the -ER ending was evident right from the start, I should have abandoned hard mode immediately and gone fishing for vowels. I also should have considered Y sooner.
At the same time, I didn’t foresee all those blank squares.
Tough one.

I didn’t see it. It was clear that it started with spr, but I ended up going through the entire alphabet twice, first for spru and then for spri. It wasn’t until I actually got to sprig and said it out loud that I recognized it as a word.

This was one of those Wordles where, at the stage where you’re trying to hone in on the solution, it’s hard to come up with any words that might work, and it took me a while to see the solution.
Turns out I overlooked SYRUP, but fortunately it had already been used.

CYBER → About what I expected. Time for a good first guess second
ROAST → No vowels found, only two left. Thought a while about words that would cover both here; was disappointed to thiink of none. Well, RUINS would have done the job, but that repeats the starting R. So, one vowel at a time
SHRUG → It’s not U it’s me, er, I. And given the letters I’ve found it must be

Scoredle picks it up in 3; never even thinks about trying an A. It did better by starting from CYBER than it did from its own start word. What’s more, it reminded me of the word I missed for my third guess, VIRUS, though I would have had a harder time getting the solution with that one than I did in the event.

This one was fun. Took a couple minutes puzzling out that it had to start with A and then the answer practically revealed itself. (Notably, I saw atoll first but I actually remember either complaining or being annoyed when atoll was an answer a long time ago.)
