TRIAL → Clean whiff - and on a pretty good start word, too! S & N, I can’t find a word with three vowels so I’ll stick with two
SHONE → Nary a WoFcon in sight. I can pair a possible U up with that lone O, but then I blunder with an already-used letter
DOUGH → And now it’s getting late early. But finding that U eliminated all the terminal-Y words, so when I thought about ?UGO? words and went nowhere, I moved G to the start and saw
GUMBO

It was a tap-in par, after an unforced error, if I may mix my sport metaphors. Scoredle picks the solution out of a set of six valid possibles and 28 bogus ones, so quite an excellent putt for the algorithm.
