AVOID → That’s a bit slow, but I can do the good ol’ good first guess second here, with the best first guess of them all
SLATE → Not quite as good as I had hoped for, but one more pickup and a placed A is nice. I went to sleep here and looked again when I got up, and spotted one word that might not be needed but at least finished up covering the vowels that I decided to try
QUASH → so I knew where that H must go and it had to be
CHASM
My third guess ranked 86/88 on Scoredle’s (inflated, mostly s-terminated) list of possibles - Scoredle’s recommendation there was to cover a 3-trap I hadn’t seen. On the plus side, it left with with a tap-in on this puzzle, so I’m going with lucky over good today. Scoredle also ends up with the same tap-in for par as I do, but does it by inclusion rather than elimination, so it looks much better doing it.

Always nice to pull out a birdie after a starting whiff.
Scordle decided to double up on both the unplaced S and the placed A with AMASS, which was the only other non-bogus word, surprisingly.
I usually start with CRANE, and then either HOIST or SHOUT. But today, with two greens, i decided to try for a 3.

Just lucky today.
Lucky you! Wow, this one really had me worried. After 3 guesses there were still 14(!) possible answers. Fortunately my 4th guess, a sleuth word, gave me a 4th letter which narrowed things down quite nicely.
My streak lives on at 246, as I approach my longest streak of 267.
I barely eeked this one out.

CHASM → OK, not bad, and the C is nice. I’d like to try two WoFcons and another vowel, and I see a word that fits the bill
ANTIC → No help, and I’m feeling vowel-poor. Add E, O and R or L to my letters so far and start trying bogus words galore. I get a hit after a while with
OCREA → I have no idea what it means. But I now have three letters placed (C must go middle, ergo A must go second) and I immediately saw
PACER → which looked like a trap, and immediately tried
FACER → and then looked in vain for another good letter to put forth and resignedly tried
LACER
I needed to get some sleep once I hit the trap - instead, I rushed it and suffered the consequences. Alas, it turns out the trap had just enough bogus words to get me. Scoredle birdies. I have a day to stew.

RACER
A while back, it seemed like Wordle was throwing out -ER words two or three times a week. I grumbled about it then, and even though I birdied this one, I still don’t care for them.
-ER words tend to be trappish, and in my mind they’re only a small step away from -S plurals, since you’re still basically looking for a 4-letter word with an extra letter tacked on. It somehow doesn’t feel in the spirit of the game.
Just my own little pet peeve. Rant over.
EDIT: Just to be clear, words like NEVER or CAPER are fine, I just don’t like those that are words only because an R is added.
