FIERY → Whiff. For my followup, ROAST would be good save for that initial letter, and while casting around for a word with an A I ended up on one with a U
SNOUT → And a good thing, too. I should have gone to sleep here, but I decided to try to find an L
SKULL → Fruitlessly, and worse yet I tried to double it up. Then I figured it was time to try an A, and settled on
SUMAC

So a tough start but a par to finish. It was a tap-in valid answer among nine bogus ones. SCUBA with that A was what I should have tried with my third guess, 2nd rather than 11th/51, but I got obsessed wtih my WoFcons. Scoredle also finishes with a par, but as it locates the fourth letter with its second guess, its possible sets are smaller for its last two guesses.

I thought of seven words. Annex, Enema, Pecan were already used.
Waken and Paean aren’t Wardle words. Apnea was the other choice.

After the hits on A and E, I’d rather locate the vowel than ask an unlikely 3rd vowel.
Garnd or Gernd would be better than Grind I think, if legal. Or if I’d asked Steal instead
of Slate, I could follow up with Grand. Trade-offs.

I’m going to go see what the wordlebot thinks, but i felt unusually unlucky today, with both guesses 2 and 4.

Yeah, wordlebot rates my second guess as 77 for skill (max 99) and 16 for luck. That’s really low.
