STILE → Placed the carryover letters and found an L, so I’ll call that a win and start trying consonants, with an N to try first

GRACE would make for an interesting lead-in to today’s solution, would it not? I see why my followup guess was downrated; there’s a nasty trap that Scordle played into that might have bitten me badly had one of its words been the solution. In the event, Scoredle’s followup leads it directly to my third and fourth guesses, so I do feel pretty good about how I played today.
