BASIL → Not a bad start. I want to try E in the followup, and two more WoFcons, I resort to trying to find a bogus word when a vaoid one doesn’t come to mind

For a 94/127 guess of a bogus word, that followup sure was productive. The final putt was technically 1-in-3 but essentially a tap-in. Scordle has 12 to chose from after its followup, four of which are valid; its guess leaves six possibles with only one valid, which it chooses.

It’s been 50 days since CIGAR inaugurated the era of re-using past solutions. In those 50 days, 46 of the solutions have been new, and only 4 have been previous solutions. I’m kinda perplexed as to why they bothered.

SERIF → Slow start. With the R I would normally try ROAST here, but there’s no S, so I mixed in N and L alternately and shuffled letters around until I found a bogus word I could use
ROTAN → Bogus, but good eliminations, and an O pickup. To try L, I’ll go with
GLORY → Still haven’t placed that R. I can’t see any words left that end in R, so I’ll try the R in second
CROUP → That was it… but now it’s either a double-O, or consonants galore, and I can check double-O and two new consonants with
BROOM → So last guess, and I have - two possibles. 50-50 elimination chance. I feel like we’ve had BROOK before, so I’ll cross my fingers and try

Phew is right. I made lousy guesses, per Scoredle - followup wasn’t in the top 120 out of 574, third guess was 48/60, fourth was 8th out of 9 valids (24 total), so I guess I was fairly lucky I ended up sinking that 50-50 at the death. It’s a challenge for Scoredle, too; bogey on the puzzle, six remaining valid possibles after the third guess, but a tap-in for that bogey.
