CHUCK → So I did this on my phone in “night” mode, and I didn’t see that the C was placed, so then I tried
LACER → And the E was nice, but when I realized it was off because of the mode, I moved things over to try another WoFcon
SPICE → and I should have tried SINCE to get that last N, so having realized that I went for
MINCE → And that was the one that clinched
NIECE
Pretty bad errors, but I’ll be the poor craftsman who blames his tools. Scoredle’s followup goes straight to the word I realized I should have tried with my third, and it leaves only the answer for a tap-in birdie.

My wife is my secret weapon in this game. My followup wasn’t in the top 120; my third guess a mediocre 20/35, but it left me with only the answer and one bogus word - but she saw it well before me. Scoredle’s followup left three possibles, one of them bogus - but it missed on the third guess and had to settle for a par of its own.

After the futility of my first two guesses and the near-futility of the third, there were five valid possibles (out of 12), one of which was CHUCK from a few days ago, one was marginal (British slangey), and the other three were all mutually exclusive, so a five was pretty much a sure thing. Scoredle gets lucky, sinking a par from a choice between three sure-thing valids and three near-valids (out of 29 total possibles).

COUCH → Wasted C, and a lot of WoFcons still out there. With U in the middle, there may be no other vowels, so I’ll concentrate on the WoFcons
TRUNK → One out of three ain’t bad if you’re a baseball player, but not if you’re Meat Loaf. I see one word with the last two WoFcons, and god help me I’m going to try it
SLUTS → It’s getting late early. STU- almost writes itself, then it’s time to try what I can
STUMP → Not that. Double letter? Why not?

STUDY was out there, and Scoredle preferred it for my fifth guess, so I was lucky in a sense - though it was the only other valid word remaining. Scoredle has some bad luck - it went with a word with two other vowels for its followup, which in the event were wasted, then ends up with the same dilemma as I did for the fifth guess - and prefers the wrong guess, leaving the answer for its double-bogey.

POINT → Which was productive, and made a Y unlikely. Distributed the vowels, picked a couple more consonants and tried
BIGOT → Running out of consonants, I pick two more and go for

After my followup (20/1404), Scoredle preferred my next two guesses, but then would have had me go for the bogus word on the 50-50 for bogey. On its own hook, Scoredle makes a placement play with its followup (which succeeds purely by elimination), then the third guess leaves a pure 50-50 par putt which it misses, finishing with a bogey of its down.
