CHURN → About as good as could be expected. To that R, I can add A & E and two WoFcons with
REALS → So I’m moving kinda slow here. I"ll check for O and an -ER word with a Steve Miller favorite
TOKER → Could be ?RYER, but I’m guessing it’s an I as the other vowel. PIPER would be a good word to check, but I can better cover consonants with
VIPER → Looking at the vowels, I see two words, so I think I’m safe
GIVER → That wasn’t it. Can I have a D?

Scoredle had four words left - the solution, two words that were clearly bogus, and one that was a bit slangy (two of 'em are change for a ten) so I may not have been as safe as I thought. Third guess was 59/238, fourth 6/44 so fairly skillful getting to the endgame. Scoredle solves in four, picking the solution out of 14 possibles at that stage. Technically, an algorithm doesn’t really have “luck” but I think this nearly qualifies.
Additional fun: I apparently forgot to do the puzzle a couple of days ago, so I’m reset to 2 days.

Grrr. A nasty trap, and I chose what turned out to be probably the least effective sleuth word I possibly could have.
A second sleuth word still didn’t nail it down. I had RIDER in the wings if necessary, but EIDER would have meant a fail.
I feel kind of lucky to walk away with only a bogey.
