GRILL → Wasted an L, but at least I got something. Add two WoFcons and A&E and try
STARE → N remains of the WoFcons, need to try O & U and if this next word hits the trap I’m in big trouble
ROUND → Big sigh of relief as I only got the U. Better try Y, and finally find where that R goes
FURRY → Ah, but I knew it wasn’t there! Dang it. At least it points to the solution… right?

CURVY was also possible, so I had a 50-50 for that bogey. If I had seen my fourth-guess error before typing it, I could have made par. That third guess wasn’t much to look at, at 29/90, but it cut things down nicely - and if I had been thinking clearly about it, it could not have been the start of that infamous trap. Scoredle has a rough one; after three guesses, it narrowed things down to seven possibles, four of them valid, but guesses wrong twice to go the distance for its double-bogey save.

After 1, there were a half-dozen unused possibilities that I could come up with. But there were also no fewer than 7 previous solutions from the first 200 Wordles - the ‘zone of reusability’ as I call it, since all but two recycled solutions so far have been from that group. PRATE, one of the unused possibilities, narrowed things down to TRACE (Wordle 179) and TRADE (Wordle 870) so of course I went with the former.
