I was trying to place the L and find a vowel on guess three; if I’d noticed there was still a WoFcon on the table, I might have birdied. Though BLINK and BLIMP were still possible, so things could also have gone worse.

I was right after the followup - that letter had been eliminated. I should have noted, however, that the third guess used an already-used letter, so I certainly could have hit par on this one, with a little more attention. Scoredle makes that par, in approximately the same sequence I might have, so I certainly could have done better.

Scoredle’s solve is close enough to mine that it falls into the same pattern, preferring the bogus answer to the valid one and finishing with a bogey.
