A lucky 3. The solution was the only word that was coming to mind in the night, and I figured at least it would tell me if the solution had an I or a second E, or a U if none of the above, plus maybe I’ll get a hit on one of the consonants. Scoredle afterwards showed a number of unused possibilities like FUDGE, FUGUE, EXUDE, so it was no GIMME. Lucky indeed.

SOUPY → Opening whiff. A, E and three WoFcons is my next move, which (in the absence of S) looks like
LATER → So that’s something. Now do I need to check another E or an I? And is there an N involved? I can cover both of those questions with
NIECE → Two E’s and one I, but no N. If R was still in play I’d have tried EERIE, but we also had it back in April, so no dice. As it was, I shuffled around the E and second I into various spots, and eventually tried a word that seemed bogus to me
EBIKE → and also to Wordle, but, between hitting the B and placing the I, there was just one word left

Followup was 19/2893, third guess 9/142 then an epic fail 6/6 for the par guess, followed by a tap-in bogey. Scoredle’s guesses for 3rd and 4th would have it end up with a par of its own, so my failure to par is pretty galling. From its own start, Scoredle works the elimination angle so well it has a tap-in for par.
