By the time I spotted the -OIST trap, I had F, H, J, and M, with only three tries left. You’d think there must be at least one five letter word with three of those letters in it. Nope. So I played to survive, and managed that at least.

STAIN → So that’s a good recovery. Would like to try an O, but I think a terminal Y is slightly more pressing
MISTY → Missed, and not a single letter placed yet, and already halfway done. If I put the I in the middle and repeat the T, I should have a shot at for at least one placement
TWIST → Turned out I placed everything - but didn’t add any known letters. Perhaps there is an O… in which chase, I have a trap on H-F-J (and maybe more, though I’ve glad I’ve already KOed M and R). Well, I don’t see any more letters to put in front of that I, so let’s try

After a followup out of the top 120, my guesses ran 29/55, 4/10, 1/6 and the solution at 1/3 (with one bogus, so I lost in at least half of all universes out there). Scoredle gets its vowels sorted before its consonants, and ends up shortcutting my sequence by one guess, finishing with a bogey but with the same end sequence.

The endgame was interesting - there were five possibles for my final guess, three of which were bogus but two of those had enough credibility that I might have gone for one of them rather than the solution if it was the other valid - so I dodged a bullet, I guess. Also did so with the fourth guess, which had 42 possibles to choose from and I have no idea how to evaluate most of them for bogusity. Scoredle pars, “chipping from the rough” to get the answer out of 33 possibles, again with almost no idea of which are truly bogus.
Forgot to post yesterday. Didn’t do Wordle til late in the day, rushed through it, and blew my 180 day streak.
