Work-a-holics, check in here.

Somewhat inspired by this thread as well as a conversation I was having with coworkers while staying late at the office on Friday, I was wondering if I actually qualify as a workaholic.

They say the first step is admitting you have a problem, right?

So, when you go in to the office on Saturday for six to eight hours to catch up on paperwork you didn’t get to during the 10 to 12 hour days during the week, does that qualify? How about when you do this almost every week?

When all (and I do mean ALL) of your friends are coworkers, does that qualify?

When an 80 hour week is simply typical and exepcted, does that qualify?

When you feel guilty about not going in to the office on Christmas, does that qualify?

When you feel better at work than on vacation, doesn’t THAT qualify?

Is there help for this anywhere?

Are you a workaholic? What do you do about it?

I suppose I am.
Being self employed for thirteen years did it to me. It helps (hurts?) that I love the work.
I think perhaps that I have let the job define me, but somehow I’ve never minded that.
I’m not going to do anything about it, I feel fine.

Can’tpostnowtoobusybye.

My workweek is NO LESS THAN 84 hours (7 12’s offshore) and I am just finishing up a 28 day hitch, home for 7 days and back here for 21, I think I qualify.

unclviny

let’s see, my standars schedule is 3 weeks out on the road and 1 week home which usually includes at least 2 days working.

yup me thinks i qualify

Sometimes I appear to be a workaholic. But that’s because I will be taking a chunk of time off. Sort of a balancing act.

I work(ed) full time and also run my own business at home so I spend several nights a week painting or working on my website. I go out only once every month or two. Does that count? 'Course I just quit my job. :frowning:

Never mind jinwicked I’m sure someone will buy one of paintings - they’re cool.

I was a workaholic until my body forced me not to be one.
