work is calling me out!

Here’s the breakdown…I hate my job. Used to be good, but re-orgs and buy outs have made it very bad. I’m always going around tough talking saying I don’t need this job and I’m going to quit and this and that…I mean, I’ve got dreams:plans.

Well now they are calling me out. The are offering voluntary separation with a great incentive (about 9 months pay and a year of insurance). It’s like they are daring me to take it, and suddenly my nerve has shot down. I’ve got a house, a car payment, and a kid (almost).

If you hate your job that much, I’d say take it. That way you can take a month or so off, then have eight more months to find another job. With any luck, you’ll be receiving two paychecks for a while.

I’d also say take it. Nine months should be plenty of time to find something else–I understand the job market in many fields is a bit tough right now, so maybe it’ll require some hardcore work for a little while to find that new job. You should be able to do it, though, and end up being (I would hope) happier at work and home.

Take it, dude. I’ve never ended up worse than the job I hated. I received a nice buy-out and collected unemployment – legally – to boot! Do it. Just do it.

I agree that this could be a great change for you- if you are fairly readily employable someplace else. Having some extra cash by using Lord Ashtar’s plan could come in might handy with the future baby coming. Isn’t Dallas a pretty good place to be living when job hunting?

thanks for the support…that’s what my heart is telling me.

Shit…I wish someone would offer me money to quit my job.

You don’t happen to work for the phone company do you?
Your situation sound pretty familliar.

GO SHANE GO…

Save all you can, take a months vacation, and don’t look back.

You’re getting offered what many of us can’t even negotiate.

Off with you…I mean it…Go!

I’d be all over that like a cheap suit!

Thanks for the support folks. My wife supports me in my decision to leave.

yeah!

Don’t take it. Get another job prospect all but locked down first.

A person with a job is viewed as a better hire than a person without a job.

I take it all back if you think it’s take the deal now or be subject to a layoff next week.

jj.c, metroshane has nine months to find a new job with this severance package! I say jump all over that.
