Work-Out Tapes/Playlists

I’ve been trying to put together a decent work-out tape / playlist for use while on a stair master from my music collection, but it looks like I’m going to have to visit a music store anyway.

The problem is, there are a lot of songs that will keep you moving but that don’t exactly work well next to each other (You can’t exactly place ‘No Scrubs’ (TLC), ‘Feel like a Number’ (Seger), and ‘Over My Head’ (Fray) next to each other on a tape; it just doesn’t work.)

My question (before I go shopping) is: What is the best grouping of songs you’ve ever put on a work-out tape / playlist ?

This may draw a better response in a different forum.

Moved from IMHO to CS.

Well, it depends significantly on the kind of “work” that you’re doing.

Do you like “Walk” by Pantera? That is the ultimate workout song, according to me. Of course, it fits with the kind of work I do, and if you’re doing some routine in front of your television with one of those slidey-mats or John Basedow, you may think differently.

This playlist worked for me for a few months:
Head Like A Kite - Nosy At The Circus (mp3 is about 1/4th down)
The Cinematics - Break
Taking Back Sunday - Liar (It Takes One To Know One)
Sugarcult - Pretty Girl (The Way)
Nine Black Alps - Shot Down
Gnarls Barkley - Just A Thought
Hot Hot Heat - Talk to Me, Dance With Me
The Academy Is - Black Mamba (Teddybears Remix)
Mellowdrone - Beautiful Day
Blue October - Drilled A Wire Through My Cheek
Jupiter Rising - Go
The Alps - Curriculum Vitae
The Lovely Feathers - Wrong Choice
Brookville - Golden
Cartel - Settle Down

And later I added:

Ok Go - Invincible
Beat Assassins - Goin Crazy 2
Dropping Daylight - Til You Feel Something
Paper Models - Coming Back To Me
Bloc Party - The Prayer
Sia - Little Black Sandals
Young Love - Discotech
Controling The Famous - Two Sides
Brandston - Nobody Dances Anymore (at last link)
Unbrellas - Again and Again (at last link)
