Tonight at work we got a 911 call from a person at a restaurant saying the business was being robbed at gunpoint. I was working the dispatch position that actually sends the officers on calls/keeps track of everyone/etc for the first time by myself and I totally kicked ass on this call!! From the time the call came in on 911 and the calltaker put in that it was a robbery, it took me just 11 seconds to pull the call up on my computer, alert all the officers, and put officers on the call! 11 seconds!!! The total time it took from the calltaker picking up 911 to me getting officers dispatched was 21 seconds…and then just 2 mins to get an officer on the scene. We didnt catch the guy but I am so excited about how I handled everything! I remembered to air the call the proper way and everything!! (calls like that get aired in a diff format than other calls) Sorry for all the exclamation marks, but I’m just so excited LOL We also had a chase and other assorted things…but tonight totally rocked-yeah!!!
