Ha! When I lived at SROs in San Fran, they were all run by Patels! Dunno if the same family, but 3 different hotels, all “Mr. Patel.”

Patel is the 2nd most common name in India, and the region of Gujarat where Patels originally came from has lots and lots of merchant-class people named Patel. Thus, lots of Indian emigrants are named Patel (most emigrants from India to the West are Marathi or Gujarathi) and many of most of the merchant-caste emigrants are.
