“Good morning Mrs. Smith. We got another call about Fido. [We get a call at least every other week that this dog has been caught running loose.] Unfortunately, this time he was caught by a bumper on a state highway and is laying dead on the side of the road. Maybe if you’d kept him inside your kids wouldn’t be getting a dead dog for Christmas. Have a great day!!!”
No worries, I was just offended on your behalf. I realize it says something about how special Shredder Guy is that you are not mouth-foamingly pissed about INK ON YOUR MONITOR!
No-one should have to deal with ink on monitors! It’s travesty against .. everything!
Seriously, I’m in favor of the death penalty for coworkers who leave finger prints on my monitor, if I came back from sick leave to find Ink! On My Monitor! my best hope would be for a jury of like-minded office workers.
I have a plush Cluthlu, so I’m sure there is a market for plush ratking toys! Thank you for asking, Tony is able to walk. He wasn’t able to go to the service, but I’m not sure if that was physical or mental. He loved her so much.
At the risk of repeating myself, I so couldn’t be a vet tech. I know that most of the time, you get to deal with people who are interested in their pets’ health and welfare. I could be so supportive and helpful to them. It’s the idiots who do this sort of thing that would make me want to fling a honey badger in their faces.
OH HECK!!! Quick, people, help me put that link in a spoiler. Its not kid safe due to the animals eating other animals. Probably not work safe due to the language.
Oh, I did a lot of mouth foaming while I was complaining…and got 4 IT guys so upset they were raging as well. That’s so not excusable. I wanted to trade monitors with SG and leave him trying to read his sports scores between the lines. SG would never bother to try to clean up his mess, he would just suffer and feel abused. The IT guys couldn’t do that. They had to clean the monitor while raging about idiots.
How many people see that there’s a new post in Workplace Griping by flatlined and come in anticipating the post where SG has been fed to the Ratking? Or at least reintroduced into the ranks of the unemployed.
On a related note. Has anyone started a betting pool about which will happen and when?
I would vote for fired, and soon, except from what we’ve seen already, it doesn’t seem that there is anything that this company won’t let Shredder Guy get away with.
The first of the fiscal year. That’s when SG’s protection will be gone. I promise that if he’s still working on the 3rd, I’ll send him out to the Ratking’s Lair.
Part of the problem is that it’s not a company, it’s the government and there is a hiring freeze (it was explained in post don’taskmewhatnumber). If they fire SG, they’re shorthanded - but he’s getting to the point where TPTB may end up deciding it’s better to be alone than in bad company.
Man, I’m glad I only have to work until Friday. And Friday I can leave any time I want after noon…
Anyway, to the rant. Apparently they have been struggling with their web design company for five months. Looking at their website, I can see why, plus many reasons they don’t notice. (They used a free template* - without even altering the colors or anything - for a corporation?!!)
It leaves me wanting to smack the web designers AND the guy here in charge of that. Dude! Get on their asses! You should’ve taken them to court two months ago or longer. This is ridiculous.
So now I’m making him a list of web designers I know that do good work (or at least I assume they do, some of them for just for being dopers). I can only hope he does something with it.
But this means that half the work I meant to get done today isn’t done. On one hand, that means I’ll get overtime tomorrow. On the other, that means I have to stay later tomorrow.
I recognized it because it’s the one I used for my portfolio. Except I altered the colors and background - I can’t do much more because I don’t know PHP.
SAD SAD STORY. Spoilered so as not to ruin everyone’s day.
ugh. We lost a kitty in surgery yesterday. She was one of the ones we raised in the clinic. We never even got started with surgery … we were scrubbing, and the heartrate monitor was acting up again, but in a really unusual way. Typically, it double-counts and we get a HR of 240 or 300, but this time it said like 25 or 40. I tried getting a HR with the crappy stethoscope, but couldn’t hear anything, so I wen to get the Littman, and when I came back they were doing chest compressions and going for the epinephrine. The doctor even did a heart stick, but we were too late.
Ugh. I’ve been at our vets 4 times in the last 10 days because Mojo the idiot stuck his paw in his eye and scratched his cornea. We’re trying desperately to get it on the road to healing to avoid surgery but yesterday the vet was running back and forth between our exam room and another where he had a
new mama and her puppies. They’d already lost one and he said she was doing poorly and not feeding them. They’re working really hard but might lose them all. The whole office was down
I survived my first week at the new job! It’s going well, a lot to learn, but everyone is saying how quickly I’m catching on. If they say so… I feel pretty clueless most of the time. I know it’s to be expected but I hate feeling like I don’t know what I’m doing! I left Monday with a headache so bad I could hardly see.
Co-workers so far are all super nice, and I can’t tell if anyone is a slacker yet or not. The only minor gripe I have is that there is something weird about the big boss. I can’t put my finger on it just yet. He seems fairly normal, no one acts like they’re afraid of him or that they dislike him. I just get a weird feeling around him. Maybe it’s just nerves and it’ll blow over.
No explosions from the credit union… yet. I’m waiting for year end for those. Heh heh heh…
I would have been at that point a long time ago - he seems to be creating so many problems that it must be creating more work than he actually does (since he doesn’t actually seem to do anything except make excuses). Oh well - not my company, not my problem.
Glad to hear the rest is good; sorry to hear about the weird vibes. In my experience, those usually aren’t wrong - there’s usually something off about someone who sends out those vibes. My advice (even though you didn’t ask) - be careful with him. Don’t completely disregard those feelings.
Kudos to the VetMed People. I don’t know how you do it. My primary feline has got us, owner and office and all, damaged as her lymphoma seems to be metastizing after 15 or so months of successful treatment. We’re grateful, but the endgame in oncology sucks. I’m feeling for my DVM, as one of her dogs is just now presenting lymphoma.
