Workplace griping, anyone?

Now I’m dying to know what they were preparing…

(Do we need to ask mods to move this to Cafe Society? )

Well, it can’t be any worse than the day the stench coming from the microwave turned out to be the closeout chicken breast one lady was reheating for lunch…

That’s getting dangerously close to sig-line territory.

I re-heated some salt-and-pepper squid in the lunchroom microwave one day - I apologized profusely to everyone. I honestly didn’t know it would stink THAT badly.

Stupid fuckin’ dumbass po-broke money grubbin’ shitheads!!!

I work at a vet clinic, and most of our clients are responsible enough to have their pets fixed. But we have a couple who are dead-set on exploiting their dogs for money. (Believe me, NONE of the ones who breed are the least bit responsible/reputable when it comes to producing litters.) We had an appointment set for this afternoon to examine, vaccinate, and de-worm seven husky puppies. THANK GOD they called and asked how much it was going to be before they showed up. The total was going to be about $230, and they can’t pay it. SHOCKER!! Surprisingly enough, they didn’t try to pull the old “we’ll pay you when we sell one” bit, because (of course) they’re going to try to sell them for something like $400 a piece.

We also have someone coming in tomorrow to have their female Doberman x-rayed to see how many puppies she’s carrying. The only reason they’re doing that is because the last time she was bred, she had ONE pup who got stuck (breech position - it had been dead for a while when she finally showed up) and the staff had to work for an hour to get it out. They had to air out the back room for two hours in the middle of January because of the stench. This dog is 6 years old and has never had a successful pregnancy. But they still wanna make money on her!

Our last set of geniuses owns the very large Doberman male who bred the above-mentioned Dobie bitch. They have purchased a female for themselves, so she’ll be bred next year when she goes into heat. That way, they can “save” on the stud fee and make all the money for themselves!!

Um, you don’t mean this like it sounds, right?

Avarie537 your post made me all stabbity. I hates money grubbing, back yard breeders with a passion. I do save some rage for the petstores who sell puppies and for the idiots who buy them.

In all the years I’ve been doing rescue, and meeting other pet owners in the community, I have met one, count them, ONE responsible breeder. This lady is in it because she loves the breed. She researches the bloodlines, she doesn’t overbreed her females, she has a 3 year waiting list for her puppies and would be the first one to say that anyone who thought they would make money as a responsible breeder didn’t know what they were talking about. Her rage levels about the BYB’s are higher than mine.

My rant isn’t mine, its for a poor delivery driver who showed up at work today. He had to get a full sized semi down a very narrow and short road and backed up to a badly placed loading dock. He was a very good driver to be able to do that, btw. The fill-in UPS drivers in panel trucks usually has to make 2 passes at it.

So, the poor guy rang the bell and showed me paperwork saying that he had a delivery for the election department. A BIG delivery, 2 pallets of expensive looking and badly balanced electronics and a very big, heavy box. I called elections and they said they weren’t expecting anything and came to look. We are XXX County and as I was looking over the shipment, I saw that the boxes were marked XXX College.

By now, I had told the driver that I didn’t think the shipment was for us. The elections people came up and agreed that it wasn’t theirs. Driver is on the phone with dispach by now. The mailroom lady gets involved and calls the person who orders electronics, who says she didn’t order it. Dispach is telling the driver that he is in the right place and to just leave it. (his copy of the paperwork would have one of us signing for over $30,000 worth of equipment and none of us were going to do that)

Driver keeps telling dispach that we won’t accept it, dispach is telling him to tell us to take it up with the vender, driver knows that we are right and we can tell that he’s getting upset.

The mailroom lady calls the college mailroom person who just happens to be expecting the shipment. She tells the driver. The driver tells dispach. Dispach tells the driver that we have to take it up with the vender and that he needs to leave.

Mailroom lady got dispaches name and number from the driver and gave it to the college mailroom person. Driver looks mad enough to bite chunks out of the dock ramp. About 5 minutes later, dispach calls the driver and tells him to load it all back up and take it to the college.

So, to the point…dispach, when the intended receivers are saying that you have sent over $30,000 of high end audio-visual equipment to the wrong place, why don’t you listen to the people who are actually looking at the boxes? You wasted that poor man’s morning, wasted our time and could have cost your company a lot of money if the driver had followed your orders and walked out without a signature

Edited to say that the driver was nothing but professional and polite to us. I could tell that he was upset, none of this rant was about him, only for him.

Dear Executives,
A blackberry is not a “very expensive” outlay of cost when you are risking peoples lives. A single blackberry. This should not require a million presentations on the leveraged value of said device. Honestly. I have spent more time (and your money in salary) this month justifying a stupid blackberry than the damned thing would cost. Technology is not our enemy. Really.

Pretty sure the answer is “no,” but given the stakes, it’s probably worth asking: could you maybe perform a stealth vasectomy on the Dobie “stud” the next time they bring him in for rabies shots? Not a castration, just cutting the vas deferens in some way that doesn’t leave a scar on his scrotal region. Maybe a laparotomy.

Yes I know that even if possible, it would be horribly unethical and unprofessional; it’s just that in this particular case, I don’t care…

When you run for World Dictator for Life, I will vote for you.

It’s possible, but not worth the potential backlash. I had a friend that got a vasectomy on her dog so she could continue to show him and there was zero indication that anything had been done.

At least this guy is trying to breed purebreds, tho it would be nice if he was also checking for genetic issues before hand, and if we knew if he was offering a guarantee of any sort, etc.

Does your company have a dog as a logo, by any chance?
Cause some poor folks at my company have no doubt spent the last several months doing the exact same thing.

Sign #376 that the system conversion is not going well. They’re trying to install some simulator software so that we can train on the new system before we go live. Great idea, except that every computer they’ve installed the software on has crashed. I won’t let them touch my computer until the bugs are worked out.

At this point I may be hiding liquor in my office along with the candy stash…

Okay, I may be mistaken, but I always thought that the owners of the stud were the ones RECEIVING the stud fee? A bit of money-for-nothing, seems like, compared to the expense of supporting a pregnant/nursing female and a litter of pups…

I’m going to hope very hard that this was one of those cases of truly innocuous stuff that got blown completely out of proportion (e.g., family photo child porn charges).

I love you.

Set up a filter, as **adhemar **suggested. However, don’t send the emails to your trash–send them back to her.

Hoorah!

Man, I wish *I *could find a string of places that would hire me for 18 months at a time to not give a fuck.

This seems to apply to so many things. The people who will actually work with the system or installation in question aren’t ever actually consulted, which the end result that the thing is pretty much unuseable, or at least frequently inconvenient.

I really hope that you’re at least occasionally exploiting this to be mean to the guy in a way he can’t ever prove. Because that would be delicious.

Right. So by breeding the bitch with their own dogs, they don’t have to pay *someone else *a stud fee.

Look into temping - if you show up on time, clothed, and can file alphabetically without a cheat sheet, you’re golden.

No, I mean to, like, actively flout the rules. Show up late, break the dress code, not complete most of what I’m given… And just milk that for as long as I can before they finally get the balls to fire me.

Selling the liquor to your coworkers at a markup will make you rich!

None of our clients who breed are responsible breeders AT ALL. Their animals aren’t “papered”, they’re not titled/credentialed in any way, they’re not health-tested, they don’t look at bloodlines/family history/etc. … they have a purebred dog (or dogs) and they want to make a quick buck.

We have exactly one client who has a truly breeding quality dog. His bloodlines are impeccable, he’s a bench champion, Canine Good Citizen, and has his Senior Hunter title (working on his Master Hunter). She might consider breeding him once or twice in the future, but not until he goes to the national breed Specialty show in a couple of years.

Ah, this makes much more sense. I am sorry to hear this - makes you want to punch people, doesn’t it?

Nah. He’s a miserable failure as a stud … he’s only bred a couple of bitches, and he’s had pretty crappy litters. One of the females didn’t survive delivery and the other only carried one to term, but it died in-utero and had to be removed in pieces. This current litter is 2 or 3. Eventually they might just realize that he’s no good as a stud, or at least we can suggest that he needs to have a sperm sample tested for motility and count. Not like that will happen … but maybe, MAYBE they will think twice about using him again!!
