World Cup 2018

I think they will stick with Low. All the matches were close and its not his fault that Germany doesn’t have a world class striker atm. The future is also very bright and Germany will be an early favorite for Euro 2020.

I think this would be the dream of a massive majority of German fans, but I’m afraid he’s too expensive to be bought out of his contract in Liverpool.

I don’t think he’d want to do it. Different pressures, different responsibilities. I think he’s the type who likes to go club to club to club and “fix” things with all the power and adulation that goes into that on a daily basis.

First heavyweight gone. I would have preferred that Brazil knock out Germany directly, but this is the next best thing. Another heavyweight will be gone on Saturday. Now I’m just hoping Brazil doesn’t blow it this afternoon. Also, would prefer to play Mexico in RO16, as Sweden will be sky-high in terms of confidence.

If I’m not mistaken, this is the first time since 1938 that Germany (or West Germany) has failed to advance out of the (first) group stage of the World Cup.

You’re right, that’s why it hurts so much.

Yeah don’t take it out on Poland like last time…sorry could not resist…

What about Klose, he is an Assistant right now and giving it to recently retired former World Cup winners is another German speciality, like Beckenbauer, Vogts, Voeller or Klinsmann.

:dubious::smiley:

I’m not able to assess his competence as a coach, as he hadn’t had a job as head coach yet, but I doubt that he’s yet the right guy for that position. I loved him as a player, especially his undoubted sportsmanship, and he’s an intelligent guy. But he’s kind of quiet, not very eloquent and maybe lacks the gravitas the position of Bundestrainer affords. The two hardest jobs in Germany are still Bundeskanzler and Bundestrainer…

Bit off-topic for today but a Colombian friend of mine tells me that most South Americans dislike Argentina, and apparently, especially, Argentine fans and their team, is that so?

Yes and no, Peru and to some extent Colombia have some friendship with us or no special animosity.
Brazil, Uruguay and Chile would prefer anyone to win the WC before us.
The rest of S.A. probably is friendly.

Lukaku out for tomorrows match against England.

Ah, that’s a pity. Because of injury?

I believe he has an ankle injury.

I didn’t think I could hate Neymar any more, and he just found a way. Five freaking rolls?

England clubs return to training camp this week.

Colina shown there. Maybe the best referee ever.

Costa Rica draw even. 1-1.

A goal for every team.

Serbia look the better side in the 2nd half. This is not your fathers Brazil side.
