World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth general discussion thread 17 July 2018

Huh? It’s in Stormsong, and I got the achievement for Stormsong without doing the 300 points quest.

I could be wrong but I think you only need the 150 quest for the achievement (you definitely don’t need the 300 quest, as is still sitting in my quest log un-attempted and I have the achievement)

That’s the consensus in my guild too, EVERYONE is struggling to get a weapon. I’m up to ilvl 332 despite still running around with a 300 offhand. At least it’s mythic reset day so I have another chance to be disappointed instead of just not getting anything in heroics. On the plus side, I no longer get lost in Waycrest Manor haha.

Correct, I have the achievement without the 300-point version, just the 150.

I meant the 150-point version, not the 300.

Ran my first mythic last night- Waycrest Manor.

By far the hardest encounter was the Heartsbane Triad- when the second sister claimed the orb and started tossing the rune on people, we just got wrecked. I think it took us five tries to down it.

Lord and Lady Waycrest was an interesting encounter- I (tank) got killed with just a few percent left on Lord Waycrest, and about 8% on the Lady- the DPS managed to knock out the lord, the priest went down (my wife, Holy) so she was able to spam heal in Spirit form, then all but the hunter dropped by 3%… he turtled, siphoned health to his pet, and between them, they managed to knock her down, in very much a photo finish (he had just one or two percent health remaining).

The Goliath was a bit difficult, took us two tries- the wildfires kept disappearing before I could get him ablaze, but we managed to push through it.

Slobbery pig monster and Gorak Tul were basically just checkboxes to finish the dungeon- no more difficult than on normal.

I did not realize that the path through this dungeon changes- the only times I had previously been there, it was Triad -> Goliath -> Raal -> Waycrests -> Gorak Tul. Last night, though, it reversed the order of the first three. Should make M+ interesting.

All the people having trouble with getting weapons means I must be an anomaly: I’ve trashed like 6 325 staffs and a handful of daggers and off-hands as well.

I’ve managed to push my ilvl to 335 despite still having a 325 Main Hand and 300 offhand. (the 340 from emissary the other day was intellect only for shammies, and I’m an agility loving enhancement shammy). I unlocked King’s Rest last night, so i’ll have one more shot at a 340 agility weapon this week. I know i’ll get something eventually, but at this point its almost comical.

krondys regarding the sisters in Waycrest Manor - when the sister who’s names starts with “M” (I think she’s second) is the active one, she puts a debuff on everyone that will drop off if you keep moving around. it can really help out the healer if people know this.

Thank you- I missed that. I’ll kite her in the future.

There’s a special place in my personal version of hell for you. I’m at a half dozen or more runs of every heroic that drops a usable dagger, and two locks of mythics of the same, yet still rocking the 298 I picked up on day two of the expansion. Kelt is mildly annoyed at this point.

I’ve been getting into mythics in an attempt to get raid ready (see previous paragraph and a matching one for a second trinket). I think the only boss we’ve (almost entirely guild runs) had problems with was the third one. Once we replaced the healer and floor-tanking warrior, and consequently stopped feeding energy to the boss, it was an easy one-shot. Once raids start up, we’ll probably spend a couple weeks doing dungeon achievements, because what’s better than hard bosses that are intentionally more difficult?

Last night was another 0/4 in heroics for me, and now 0/6 officially this week in mythics as I was able to run King’s Rest last night for the first time.

At least the heroics don’t take me that long, 2 of my weapon opportunities are in Waycrest Manor, one is 2nd boss of Underrot (so I usually just drop the heroic group after 2nd boss), last one is from the big dino in Atal.

Arathi Highlands is stupidly lucrative. I headed there yesterday, and finished the evening with four 340 pieces (including a weapon!) and a 370 trinket… just waiting for the Horde to open up the warfront so I can pull a 370 Azerite piece from the quest as well!

Awesome! I’m looking forward to trying it out tonight. My guild ventured into Uldir last night. Pretty fun so far, we got 5 bosses down on normal. I got two 355 pieces of loot, but I’m still dual weilding 325 weapons haha.

We don’t raid until Sunday/Monday, but I’m chomping at the bit to get started.

You’ve probably discovered by now that you really can’t. You don’t even get the quests to start them until specific levels, and then they’re just a quick series of quests to get the base set up. Then it’s back to the home continent to level some more, and you don’t get more War Campaign quests until 120. Even then, they’re metered out by rep, aside from WQs.

Is he that sethrak riding a mount in the middle of the desert, and you get the quest from a wanted poster? Yeah, he’s tough and I haven’t killed him yet. I noticed that, unlike most of the other wanted posters I’ve seen, the quest recommends 5 players rather than 3. I hung around near him for a while waiting to see if other people showed up, but finally gave up. There’s a similar bounty mob in Nazmir, a big triceratops named Torek.

I’m curious: Did the Alliance side have to accumulate war effort donations? Because the Horde side has to, and it’s going excruciatingly slowly. We’re currently at 71% on my server.

They will when the Horde gets its turn controlling Stromgarde. The “out” faction gets the contribution quests.

No, he’s the Zandalari traitor general that you “kill” as the final mob in the Secrets of the Sands questline.

Yes, that’s the one. (Thanks for answering, I was on vacation.)

I’m pretty sure there was a helpful update after I made that post, because the following weekend I defeated him without trouble, on the first attempt, without changing my approach. I’m doing WQs now, achievements, war campaign stuff, and will start Arathi this weekend.

I’ve got 370 gear dropping like mad for me. I’ve been DEing 340 stuff regularly already.
